Sonshine Ministries is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2025. The journey has been amazing. It began on a trip to Tanzania when the founders Ray and Melody Schumacher heard the Lord say He desired to establish a ministry center and an orphanage in northern Tanzania to care for many, many children.  There are over 1 million orphans in Tanzania. This ranks Tanzania close to the top 10 countries in the world with the most orphans. From this great need came a great call. God has guided Sonshine, from the beginning to rescue and raise orphaned and abandoned children as a loving family, teaching the children His ways and guiding them in His love. In 2025, Sonshine grew to 74 children and 25 staff. Providing safe housing, caring staff, healthy meals, and quality education carries a significant, monthly cost. To continue with the high-quality level of care for which Sonshine is known, and to rescue more children, Sonshine needs more sponsors and donors.

• Currently, only 14 (19%) of the 74 children are fully sponsored at $225/month. 29 (39%) children have partial sponsorship and 31 (42%) do not yet have any sponsorship.

Sonshine is grateful for God's faithfulness and the kindness of sponsors, donors, and partners over the years. As desired, a model center has been created where children are cared for, mended, and healed. Witnessing this before our eyes and celebrating this blessing with you have been a treasured experience.
